I grew up in San Diego and love it! I earned my BS in physics from University of California San Diego. While there, I worked in a condensed matter/material science lab studying a unique structural change. I also learned many programming languages, small electronics, micro processors, statistical mechanics, quantum physics, Astro physics, statistical and thermal physics, computational physics, and as you may have guessed, ALOT of math. While studying physics I happened upon the Educational Studies program because I was looking for a way to participate in the community. I really wanted to help underprivileged children gain access to resources that would guide them and support them in academic success. I fell in love with teaching and found my true calling! I stayed on at UCSD to get my M.Ed and find new ways to support and inspire my students. I am a lifelong learner and truly enjoy sharing this passion with my students.
My hobbies include hiking, biking, surfing, and playing various sports. I recently started the couch to 5k elective, where we will be working toward running a 5k. I really enjoy the water so I am usually trying to go swimming or take the Sea-Doo out. I belong to the SD women's surf group. Our group has a lot of out door activities sometimes we have BBQs or go out to dinner but most of the time we plan sport related events. Other interests include volunteering, learning about different forms of technology, and creating new projects that include art, tech, writing, or science. I enjoy dabbling in painting pictures with different kinds of media. I love building science projects and artfully designed structures. I recently used an Arduino to build a machine that sorts marbles by color into bins. I love movies, music, and puzzles. Any puzzle that forces my mind to work hard.
